The course first opened in 2001. Copperhead Golf Course was designed by Gordon G. Lewis.
The design and terrain offer variety. The layout has island tees, elevated greens, pines, and palms. The front nine has pine-lined fairways and protected natural areas. The back nine has more generous fairway landing areas. The greens are well protected, oversized and slightly undulating.
